A little about us & our history

Our founder Carroll L. Welch, started an apprenticeship in roofing and sheet metal in the summers of the 1940's in the New England area. After being transferred to Ft. McPherson during the Korean War conflict he met his beautiful bride, Ezma, who was from Georgia.

After the war, he continued roofing while working as a City of Atlanta Fireman. In 1964 he resigned from the City of Atlanta and started Ben Hill Roofing and Siding Co., Inc. in the Ben Hill business district which is located in southwest Atlanta. He continued to be the driving force in the reputation of Ben Hill until his death in 1984. Upon his death, son, David L. Welch became President and continued to grow the company using his father’s guiding principles and integrity. Today, Ben Hill Roofing is known as one of Georgia’s most successful commercial roofing businesses.

Our highly trained technical and estimating staff share over 115 years of combined experience and are available to assist you in the design and selection of your commercial roofing options. You'll discover that our expert team of roofing technicians are highly trained, committed, extremely organized and take great pride in the undertaking of unusual, tedious and detailed projects that other roofing firms prefer to bypass. The majority of our staff have been with us for many years, which contributes highly to the success of our projects. You will also find our staff to be conscientious, dedicated people who answer the call of duty; hot or cold, away or home, late night or early morning. We greatly appreciate this dedication as many of our projects are tailored around the needs of our clients, be it schools that are in session or a business that must continue operations while a project is underway.

We have the experience necessary to meet with your facility director and assist in maintenance and repair plans that look 5, 10 and even 15 years in the future. We can utilize non-destructive test methods to assist us in developing an accurate long range maintenance plan that will assure your roof integrity success.
